A few months ago I decided that it was time to ditch cable TV. I’ve been generally happy with my Comcast internet. But the $200 bill from Comcast was becoming a little much to swallow each month.
I couldn’t completely get rid of a TV subscription. I’m a hockey fan so NHL Network (for what it is), and NBC Sports. I also like to watch my local college football channels which means I needed PAC12 network. Add to that some news channels and it would cover most of what I watch.
I was about to switch to satellite. Which would have had to have been Dish Network as DirectTV and PAC12 network seem to not be able to play nice with each other. To be honest I couldn’t figure out how to make the right setup work (hopper, joeys, and bears oh my), not to mention I wasn’t convinced that I needed a satellite dish on my house.
I decided to do my check of the options which felt like a ritual I would perform every few months hoping that the Stars would align and I would be able to get rid of cable TV. Turns out I was in luck. SlingTV had recently (I think) added PAC12 which was the final piece of the puzzle.
We made the jump. I decided to turn off the cable boxes and make sure I want missing anything. A little more that a month after that I called Comcast and without too much trouble the cable TV cord was cut.
Stay tuned to adventures in TV peripherals, antaneas, and other bits of info that seems pertinent to pass along.
